The Johanniter Unfallhilfe e. V. is active in many fields. In addition to providing ambulance services, it is also involved in youth work and in this context develops projects for volunteers as well.

The Johanniter Unfallhilfe e. V. has some 200 regional, district and local organisations providing a wide range of services. It provides training and further training in first aid, ambulance and rescue services, civil defence, care services and non-emergency ambulance services for those in need of nursing care and does hospice work.
RWE Companius and the Johanniter Unfallhilfe have worked together on a number of projects. Many of the projects in the RWE Companius winter programme 2008/2009 arose out of its cooperation with the Johanniter, as did the “One warm meal a day” campaign, in which funds donated by RWE employees were used to provide children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with at least one warm meal a day. The sum collected was matched by RWE Companius so that the total sum donated to this worthwhile project was in excess of €50,000.
